Task Analysis

IRIS is a home-grown, user friendly scalable and reusable business intelligence platform providing reporting and analytics of key operational metrics and satisfying the business need of instilling a culture of “accountability”. Enables stakeholders to reduce risk and costs, and increase efficiency.

Design Process:
  • Research and Discovery:

    • Conduct user research to understand the needs, goals, and pain points of stakeholders, including executives, managers, and analysts.
    • Identify key operational metrics and performance indicators that are critical for decision-making and accountability.
    • Analyze existing data sources and systems to determine data availability, quality, and integration requirements.
  • Define Requirements:

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define specific requirements for the BI platform, including functionalities, features, and user roles.
    • Prioritize requirements based on business goals, user needs, and technical feasibility.
    • Develop user personas and use cases to guide the design process and ensure alignment with user needs.
  • Design and Prototyping:

    • Create wireframes and prototypes to visualize the layout, navigation, and functionality of the BI platform.
    • Design intuitive user interfaces that enable stakeholders to access and interact with data easily.
    • Incorporate data visualization techniques to present complex information in a clear and understandable format.
    • Ensure scalability and reusability of design components to accommodate future growth and changes.
  • Iterative Testing and Feedback:

    • Conduct usability testing sessions with stakeholders to gather feedback on the design prototypes.
    • Iterate on the design based on user feedback, making adjustments to improve usability, clarity, and effectiveness.
    • Test the scalability and performance of the BI platform to ensure it can handle large volumes of data and users.
  • Development and Implementation:

    • Work closely with developers to translate design specifications into functional features and components.
    • Monitor the development process to ensure adherence to design standards and user requirements.
    • Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that the BI platform meets stakeholder expectations and business needs.
  • Deployment and Training:

    • Deploy the BI platform to production environments, ensuring smooth integration with existing systems and data sources.
    • Provide training and support to stakeholders to ensure they can effectively use the platform to access and analyze data.
    • Develop documentation and user guides to assist stakeholders in navigating the BI platform and interpreting reports and analytics.
  • Monitoring and Optimization:

    • Monitor the usage and performance of the BI platform, gathering feedback from stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
    • Identify opportunities for optimization and enhancement based on user feedback, changing business needs, and technological advancements.

Continuously iterate on the design and functionality of the BI platform to improve usability, scalability, and effectiveness over time.
